ChipTalk - Income Tax Preperation Software Guide with Reviews
April 15th will be here before you know it. In this quick guide, we summarize three leading programs that will put your computer to work as a tax advisor.

Quicken TurboTax Deluxe
Quicken's TurboTax has long won high marks for its ease-of-use. The 2004 tax year version features a preparation interview that's more useful (and less annoying, if you know what you're doing). Quicken also offers the best Macintosh support of the group, with Mac versions of all its editions.

H&R Block TaxCut Deluxe
H&R Block's TaxCut software is a good choice for people who have experience managing finances and want to prepare their return as quickly as possible. Some TaxCut users have been able to file their tax return in just 30 minutes. Extensive help is available, but you may have to look for it.

TaxACT
Why buy software when you can do your taxes online... for free? TaxAct.com is probably best for people who already know about taxes and just want software so they don't have to bring out the calculators and #2 pencils, though a "Deluxe" version with more tax advice is available.
